From School Library Journal
Grade 4-7-This collection is chock-full of wacky, witty, and whimsical poems that will hook readers from the first stanza to the last. The volume is divided into sections such as "All Creatures Great "; " and Smallish"; "Fair Warnings"; "Hands, Knees, and Bumps"; and "Meet the Folks." Some poets included in this plethora of silliness are known for this type of writing and others are not usually associated with it: Shel Silverstein, Jack Prelutsky, Edward Gorey, Ogden Nash, Lewis Carroll, Walter de la Mare, X. J. Kennedy, and Emily Dickinson. What really brings out the humor are the equally zany black-and-white drawings that appear on almost every page. Many have a cartoonlike, exaggerated quality that is a perfect match for the words. Students looking for a poem for an assignment or just something fun to read will appreciate this anthology.
