Product Description
Introduction from the Author
Perched atop a hill in New London, Connecticut, overlooking Long Island Sound, lies a small campus full of intelligent and hard-working students who proudly refer to themselves as the Connecticut College Camels. Numbering over 1,800 and hailing from 35 countries, the Camels are eclectic, but collectively value ecology, diversity, and interdisciplinary studies. They enjoy the friendly community atmosphere of the school they have affectionately dubbed ÂConn, and hate being confused with the much larger, less selective University of Connecticut.
Far from living in UConnÂs shadow, Connecticut College excels in a number of areas, including its many student-faculty research opportunities, incredible professors, and innovative international programs. Indeed, with its plethora of resources that allow over half of its students to study abroad, the College feels infinitely more expansive than its 750 acres. In addition, Conn students are prepared for a multitude of career options through a well-rounded liberal arts education. Students have 55 traditional majors to choose from, along with the chance to design their own.
If youÂre reading this book, chances are youÂve heard a little about Conn, but youÂre not sure itÂs the school for you; and thatÂs okay. Within these pagesÂwritten by a Camel who was in much the same predicament only four years agoÂis insider information from actual Conn students. Their experience, both positive and negative, is on loan to you so that you make the best possible decision in your college search. Of course, should you decide to attend Conn, youÂll be an expert on the school while your friends are still trying to tell Marshall from Morrisson. Either way, good luck on your college search. This book is designed with one specific goal in mind: to help you decide whether you, too, have the special blend of drive, desire, and indescribable moxie necessary to thrive as a Camel.
