About The Author
John A. Flynn, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.R., is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, where the University of Missouri Medical Alumni Organization selected him as a recipient of the Outstanding Young Physician Award. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Clinical Rheumatology. Dr. Flynn is an associate professor in the Divisions of General Internal Medicine and Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He holds the D. William Schlott, M.D., Professorship of Clinical Medicine and serves as the clinical director of the Division of General Internal Medicine, and as the Medical Director of the Spondyloarthritis Program. Dr. Flynn has joint appointments in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences as well as at the School of Nursing at Johns Hopkins University. His clinical interests include spondyloarthritis. His research interests include ambulatory education and the delivery of primary care in an academic setting. Dr. Flynn is a recipient of the Clinician Scholar Educator Award from the American College of Rheumatology; the award is designed to recognize and support rheumatologists dedicated to providing exemplary educational experiences for medical trainees. He was also awarded the Alumni Association Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Johns Hopkins University. This award recognizes those whose investment in teaching students at both the pre- and post-doctoral levels is of the highest order. Dr. Flynn has published in journals such as Arthritis & Rheumatism, Arthritis Care & Research, The New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of General Internal Medicine. He is Co-Editor of the textbook Cutaneous Medicine. Timothy Johnson, M.D., received his medical degree from Yale University, followed by a residency and fellowship in sports medicine
